John a qualified Solicitor, practised in Hong Kong from 1988-'98 where he gained extensive experience in international commercial transactions and cross-border trading.

In 1998 set up his own firm, Hodgson Bilton, in Gibraltar.
In 2004, together with Raymond (Monchi) Triay, he set up HBT Legal Services S.L. in Sotogrande this has since 2008, been merged with Triay & Triay to form one of the latters two Spanish offices.

Triay & Triay Sotogrande provides a fully bilingual team possessing of all the necessary experience to cater for both resident and non-residents in Spain.

John is also an English Notary Public and Professor of Law teaching Trusts Law and Administration on the LLM (Masters of Laws) course at the St Thomas University in Miami, Florida.

He is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, the International Bar Association, the International Tax Planning Association, the Law Society of England & Wales, the English and the Hong Kong Societies of Notaries and the Gibraltar Bar Association.
