Triay Lawyers are delighted to announce the appointment of Christian Triay and Rupert Moffatt as Associates of the firm following their admission to the Gibraltar Bar on 10 November 2021. Both Christian and Rupert have been enrolled as Solicitors of the Supreme Court of Gibraltar following successful completion of the Gibraltar Training Contract with Triay Lawyers.
Christian, who joined the firm in September 2020 as a trainee, is also a qualified English solicitor, having completed a training contract with Clyde & Co in their London and Johannesburg Offices. He then worked at the Southern African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds in South Africa as their Oiled Wildlife Preparedness and Response Manager before returning to Gibraltar. Christian also co-founded and sits on the Board of Trustees of the African Forest Elephant Foundation. During his training contract, Christian undertook seats in Dispute Resolution, Property and Private Client, whilst also gaining experience within the Shipping & Admiralty team. He will now work closely with the Shipping and Admiralty and Dispute Resolution Teams.
Rupert completed his GDL and LPC at BPP London in 2020, following which he joined the firm as a trainee. Prior to training as a lawyer, Rupert worked in London in the Tech and Information Security industry. Upon joining Triay Lawyers, he undertook seats with the Corporate & Commercial, Dispute Resolution and Private Client Teams, and additionally gained significant experience with the Financial Services Team. Rupert will continue to assist in those teams.
Melo Triay said, “We are very happy to see both Christian and Rupert successfully conclude their training with us. The Covid-19 pandemic has brought a number of challenges, and has not made completing a training contract any easier for trainee lawyers. We are delighted that they now join the team as associates of the firm, and we wish them both every success and a long and enjoyable career.”
