Working From Home: A New Style of Work Experience at Triay

15.09.2020 | News

As the world embraces a new digital age, so too has Triay. Given the uncertainties regarding Covid-19, but committed to delivering a safe and worthwhile experience for students, the Firm moved their summer placement online this year delivering the first student programme of its kind in Gibraltar. Students were given a wide variety of tasks in different practice areas and maintained regular contact with lawyers through various virtual meetings, calls, and messages. The placement culminated in a remote moot, echoing the reality of virtual trials becoming more and more common.

Pippa Smith, a law student going into her second year at the University of Bristol, described the placement as “a greatly rewarding and enlightening experience” and found that she learnt more from the virtual format which allowed for “more interesting and valuable discussions” at the end of each task. Callum Smith, an LPC graduate, said that the “range of legal areas was refreshing” adding that it was “a really well put together programme” with the remote element not making it “any less of a valuable experience”.

With remote working and remote learning becoming the new normal, Triay are delighted to have been able to offer a current insight into an evolving legal landscape. Well done to all who took part!
