Monchi is both a practising Spanish Abogado and an English qualified Barrister-at-Law. For the 20 years he has practised with the family firm he has specialised in the Shipping & Admiralty division and has acted on some of the largest admiralty cases in Gibraltar, including the arrest of the Abu Dhabi Container Lines Fleet of seven ships and the arrest of vessels belonging to Renaissance Cruise Lines.
In 2004 Monchi established Triay & Triay Spain. His extensive litigation experience with a speciality in commercial litigation and a strong reputation for general commercial and corporate work, both contentious and non-contentious, has helped to establish Triay & Triay Spain as a reputable Spanish litigation practice.
In Gibraltar Monchi has also developed a strong banking practice and has acted as advisor to many of the major banks in Gibraltar, including SG Hambros Limited, Barclays Bank Plc, Hispano Commerzbank Limited and Jyske Bank. Together with his father J. E. Triay, Q.C. he set up the Royal Bank of Scotland (Gibraltar) Limited and Varde Bank (Gibraltar) Limited.
With the advent of Gibraltar's popularity for gaming activities, he advises Victor Chandler (International) Ltd and 32red plc.
He is a Member of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple, and also to the Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Cadiz, Spain.
